Surrender the Night Surrender to Destiny MaryLu Tyndall 9781602601666 Books

This is Book 2 in the Surrender to Destiny series and it's just as good as the first book, Surrender the Heart. The main characters in Book 1 are just a small part of this book, so it's really not necessary to read it first, but I like to just to keep the character history together.

This book is about Rose McGuire who lives aunt and uncle on her farm during the War of 1812. She has been hurt badly in the past and shy's away from men, but her aunt is trying to marry her off to a creepy man, Mr. Snyder, and Rose doesn't want anything to do with him. That's a story all in itself about how she finally rids herself from his attentions...which have nothing to do with love.

One day when she is alone on the farm, two British soldiers come up and one of the lieutenant's starts to attack her. The other lieutenant is, Alexander Reed (he plays a minor part in the first novel) and he has much better morals and he saves Rose's life, but destroys the life of the other lieutenant. Now everyone is in trouble. How will they get rid of the dead British soldier and how will she help her rescuer, who was injured in the fight, without getting caught and tried for treason. Oh, this story is so good!

It's an excellent story of past hurts and how God can overcome them. A great love story, with lots of mystery and intrigue that will keep you in suspense until the end of the book. I highly recommend this book. I can't wait to read Book 3!

Surrender the Night Surrender to Destiny MaryLu Tyndall 9781602601666 Books Reviews

of her stories this one may have the most in reference to "sexual content" most of it is implied except in the 1st chapter. however, it isn't trashy.

this is about the ugliness that can sometimes happen in life and overcoming the fear that accompanies it. learning to trust again, both God and man.

it leaves you guessing, and is surprisingly well written. and a good sequel and bridge to the 3rd book in the series.
Good, exciting read with the usuall romance. What was interesting to me was the view of the American (Colonial Revolt) Revolution from the British/Torry side. It makes me wonder what I would do without the aid of history.... what choice would I make? I would like to think I would have chosen our infant nation, freedom. Thankfuly for me my relatives made the choice to fight and die for freedom, but this book shows it was not always such a clear choice as viewed from 239 years of history.
3.5/5.0

This second in the "Surrender to Destiny" series is entertaining but not nearly so much as the first. Set against the backdrop of the war of 1812, it lightly skims over the events leading up to the burning of Washington D.C. The Christian aspect is a little more heavy handed than in the first book but still not obnoxiously so. I think the downfall was the lack of depth in the characters. The romance just never came alive enough to be truly believable. Alex Reed held so much promise as a leading man when introduced in "Surrender The Heart", so it was disappointing not to be given a chance to really delve into the meat of this character. Rose McGuire, the heroine, was also more cardboard than not. Her nasty retorts and rude behavior through the first half of the book became really annoying. Even so, the story stands as a nice diversion on a Sunday afternoon when one is looking for something clean.
Surrender the Night is the second book in Surrender to Destiny. I did not read these in order. This looked like the book in the series I would like the least, so I skipped it. But, as usual, MaryLu Tyndall hooks you and you just can't walk away. Rose and Alex had a great story line. I couldn't wait to see their relationship blossom and grow. They had wonderful chemistry and dialogue. Rose's uncle Mr. Drummond was one of my favorite side characters in any of Tyndall's books. He was the quiet strong, knowing type. Tyndall has a magical way of incorporating actual events into her fiction. It is seamless. She is simply an excellent writer. I am an avid historical fiction reader, but this time period (Revolutionary period) and sea life is my least favorite. Tyndall is such an amazing author that she has me hooked on places and times I don't even have much interest in! She is just that good.

This is a book, along with the others in this series, will leave you will a feel of completion. It is a Christian fiction where she integrates faith and love into a beautiful story. I highly recommend spending time enjoying Rose and Alex and the "Tyndall Magic"!
Rose McGuire lives on a farm outside Baltimore, Maryland, and during the war of 1812 the British come ashore. Previously assaulted by a British officer, she ends up taking in and caring for an enemy who protected her from another attack by one of his own crew members. This war is often referred to as the second American revolution. MaryLu skillfully weaves together a tale that had this reader rooting for this unlikely couple to be able to have a life together.
Rose is a delightful character with a very winsome way. This is one of the few MaryLu Tyndall books set on land for the entire book. She certainly can develop a wonderful hero (even if he was on the enemy side!)
I bought my so that I could read MaryLu's books more easily and hers was the first one I put to the task. Somehow I ended up not posting a review, though. I think I liked the story so much that it was hard to have to sit down and think what to say about it. I love a book that pulls you into the story until the very end.
Great period details, which is to be expected since this is MaryLu's primary area of research and writing. Lovely writing. Well done!
Fabulous clean christian historical fiction. Although there was mention of rape, there was absolutely NO details. Therefore, I would classify the book as "No sexual content". This was excellent! I loved the way the hero found himself embracing the American values and way of life, despite being raised in a very different manner. The strong biblical themes of learning to trust in God and His love as well as following His leading are woven throughout the book in a way that will encourage all who read. I highly recommend this book!
